Indiana Biosciences Research Institute Adds Director of Information Technology

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind., November 18, 2016 – As the Indiana Biosciences Research Institute (IBRI) continues to grow, today the Institute announced Jacob Smith as Director of Information Technology.

“As our research operations grow, technical support for our labs and the ability to manage and quickly understand the data we generate is critical to the Institute’s success,” said David Broecker, IBRI President and CEO. “Jake brings the necessary skills to accelerate the Institute’s growth.”

“Jake brings tremendous experience in developing and implementing laboratory information management systems to increase productivity and make experimental data more usable, which is essential to our mission to move research out of the laboratory and into the marketplace as quickly as possible,” said Dan Robertson, Visiting Research Fellow focused on computational analytics and data science.

Smith served as Informatics Solution Architect as Dow AgroSciences before joining the IBRI. Previously, he was an independent consultant on Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS), working on projects at Dow AgroSciences, Dow Chemical, Eli Lilly and Merck. Smith received his bachelor’s degree in physics and math from Wabash College.
