Britany App is a passionate graduate who has been interested in a career in medical research for as long as she can remember. In her role at the Indiana Biosciences Research Institute (IBRI), she works in the lab of Jonathan Flak, PhD, studying the central nervous system’s regulation of energy expenditure in relation to obesity and type 2 diabetes.
Prior to arriving at the IBRI, she attended Franklin College, where she participated in multiple research projects including the isolation of DNA from the gut microbiota of mallard ducks. She is a Lilly Scholar and received the Lilly Endowment Scholarship, which was the first of several academic awards that she earned while attending Franklin College.
She lives in Greenwood, Ind., with her fiancé and their black lab Milo. She likes taking Milo to the dog park, hiking, PC gaming and spending time with family.
