In his current role at the Indiana Biosciences Research Institute (IBRI), Daniel Preston is responsible for research activities in the Induced Pluripotent Stem Cell (iPSC) Core Lab including the generation of new iPS cell lines, and the differentiation of extant cell lines into mature cell types including beta-like cells and neuronal cell precursors, among others.
Prior to arriving at the IBRI, he worked as a contractor for the immunology division at Eli Lilly and Company in Indianapolis through advanced testing laboratories as a molecular biologist.
From 2016 until 2020, he worked as a graduate research assistant in the lab of Bonnie Blazer-Yost in the biology department at Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis (IUPUI). There, he worked on elucidating the mechanisms responsible for the secretion of cerebrospinal fluid from the choroid plexus epithelium.
Daniel lives in Noblesville, IN, with his wife and cat, where he enjoys spending his free time playing Dungeons & Dragons, board games, video games and cooking.
