Kaitlyn Stickel joined the Indiana Biosciences Research Institute (IBRI) to work in the Kalwat Lab investigating the molecular mechanisms of regulated secretion using genetic and pharmacological tools.
Prior to arriving at the IBRI, Stickel obtained her PhD in the Baucum Lab. Her dissertation focused on identifying mechanisms connected to the loss of the protein spinophilin that regulates hyperglycemia in pancreatic islets and body weight in high fat fed mice, using biochemical techniques, proteomic analysis and in vivo metabolic testing.
She currently lives in Indianapolis with her partner, Travis, and cat. She enjoys hiking, kayaking and tending to her collection of African violets.
